Mosul, Iraq's second biggest city shook as U.S. troops executed five brothers living in a rural house in Albu-Saif, a Mosul suburb.
However, Iraqi police announced on Thursday that the U.S. troops killed three Iraqi brothers during a raid on their house inside Mosul city. a police source in Nineveh said " military U.S.at- dawn- raid on Thursday Jan,22nd 2009 on a house in Albu-saif village south of Mosul resulted in the deaths of three brothers, one of them working at the FPI. "
No U.S. source has mentioned a statement about the incident so far.
The Iraq security source did not even give any more details about the circumstances of the incident, which is the first of its kind post the inauguration of Barack Obama's presidency.
In his inauguration speech last Tuesday, Obama had repeated his pledge to leave Iraq to 'its people'. It is expected that this very new crime to draw Obama's attention and make him heed the necessity of taking urgent procedures to punishing the criminals, which is considered the first test of its kind as to his slogans on Iraq.
Sources inside Albu-Saif reported to FATEHOON that what happened is not an incident, it is rather terrible massacre during which five people shot dead, including 8 and 14-year-old children. The sources added the bodies of the dead found smashed by bullet showers. The sources emphasized that the victims are five citizens and not 3 as mentioned, pointing out that the U.S. troops maintained two bodies of the dead. According to these sources "the execution was carried out after the five brothers, who are Omar, Mahmood, Mohammed, Khalid and Ahmed, had been taken up to their house roof to be showered thereon, bearing in mind that the victims all were civilians of a simple working-class, having no links to any political or resistance factions, they worked as vegetables retailers, and as masons.
The left side of Tigris in Mosul, has been witnessing rumors and stories about a armed group carrying out such denied crimes. Among the group, as the rumors put it, bearded members with weapons completely different from those used by the ordinary U.S. troops. The stories say this group uses armored Strikers. The sources confirmed that an Iraqi force participated in the execution but non could get knowledge about the background of that group nor for whom it works!
Albu-saif, a small village, lies near Mosul airport. It is about ten minutes south-east of Mosul city centre, and linked to it by the 'Ghizlani Camp Street'.
