Villages and farming communities in northern Mosul, the second largest Iraqi city have recently led real horrible life after getting confirmed news on the prevalence of large crocodiles in the lake located near them. According to farmers in the area of Zummar north-west Mosul, dwellers there saw an American detachment coming to their region adjacent to the grand Mosul Dam Lake, where they camped for two days at the end of July.
The farmers said to FATEHOON correspondent in Mosul, the U.S. military detachment soldiers in their second night of their arrival received a big Tanker and directly freed out of it into the waters of the Dam Lake 8 to 10 huge crocodiles. The farmers added ,we are taking measures to defend themselves warned all the fishermen."
They also pointed out that the American detachment left the scene but crocodiles remained therein, where the farmers and many of the dwellers engaging in agriculture and grazing there live on the lake banks, the which raised fear and alarm among them.
Dr.Nafi Idris, an environment specialist in northern Iraq said, this is not the first time the americans transferred creatures completely unfamiliar to the Iraqi environment and thereby to try to transplanting them therin. the environment and agriculture teams in Iraq has found kinds of sharks in other Iraqi lakes, along with animals and creeping and strange snakes in areas where the U.S. soldiers stayed.
,But still there is not available information or statements atthe Ministry of Agriculture nor at the Ministry of Environment, about this serious case, as both ministries used to keep silent, and give no comment on any environmental disaster in Iraq" added Dr Nafi Idris said.
